Hot Breads (Irving)

Location: 5330 N Macarthur Blvd # 140, Irving, TX 75038

Restaurant type: Indian Fast food

Rating: StarStar

Price: Money

As usual it was a weekend and lot of free time on hand so again we went on our usual routine to try out a new place. This time we were in mood for some Indian fast food and so we went to Hot Breads at Irving. It is a food chain around Dallas with branches in Irving, Richardson etc. This one is located on N Macarthur Blvd (or the Indian street as I call it). It is easy to get there and getting parking is easy.

You will have lot of options for food as they have a very versatile menu. They serve everything from North Indian to South Indian. The service is also fast but that’s where the good part ends. The taste is sub par and so is the ambience.

Food Ordered:

1. Paneer Tikka masala: It tasted ok and for the price it was not worth it. Came with a so called garlic naan but we did not have our magnifying glasses to find garlic on it

2. Vada Pav: I am from Bombay and what I had was definitely not vada pav. They had all the chutney’s mixed up and it tasted like bread and ketchup. It did not even have minimal spice. Don’t get me wrong I am all for customizing food for Americans but even they will appreciate genuine taste!

3. Chicken Biryani: Hot Breads is known for its biryani’s. One of my friends had ordered and chicken biryani and he said it was good. I have heard that generally they do make good biryanis but there some odd days when the cooks are not upto the mark.

4. Pav Bhaji: It was a total fiasco. The guy who made it definitely should visit India soon and atleast see how it is made.

5. Chole Bhatura: Chole was decent but I do not know what they gave us as bhatura. We could not finish it as that was enough bad food for the week.

6. Pastries: They have a good bakery collection. We tried black forest, Irish Coffee and fruit cake. They all were good. I even found an eggless cake and so if you are a pure vegetarian like me this maybe one of the few places where they serve eggless pastries.

Cost: $40 for 4 people

Final ratings:

Location: StarStarStar

Ambience: Star (Too noisy and there was nothing like an ambience)

Food: StarStar (sub par)

Service: StarStarStarStar (They are fast, the only plus point I guess)

Cost: Money (Place is cheap)

Recommend: Thumbs down (Definitely not)

All and all a bad experience. Hopefully we will come across a really nice place next time! Till then Chao!
